The Vecchia Toscana vegetable tanned leathers are made only from raw hides, originally purchased from the best European slaughterhouses. Our production is carried out on different cuts of leather, in particular on shoulders, double butts and half calves. The production is carried out according to the traditional slow tanning processes, using high quality extracts of vegetable tannins such as chestnut, mimosa and quebracho from South America.

Upon arrival, the fresh salted raw hides are carefully inspected, to ensure the highest quality and avoid production problems, only the best quality leathers will be used to produce the Vecchia Toscana vegetable leathers. After this first check we start with the greening, liming, fleshing processes, and then move on to the real vegetable tanning phase. All this process is carefully followed at every stage by our team of craftsmen with decades of experience in the production of cowhide and vegetable-tanned leathers.

Only the traditional slow vegetable tanning methods can guarantee the best characteristics of resistance and durability to the leather.

Subsequently, through the dyeing, fattening, drying and finishing phases, our team of artisans will give the leather the characteristics desired by the end customer, in terms of hand, thickness, appearance and color.
